The Jambangan Cultural Dance Company, Inc. was founded by individuals passionate about preserving Philippine traditional dances. “Jambangan,” meaning “land of flowers,” symbolizes a space where these diverse expressions can thrive. From its humble beginnings, the group has grown into a respected institution, known for authentic and creative performances. It was founded by the late Prof. Alicia Lourdes M. Soriano, with leadership now shared by Co-Founder Dr. Ma. Blancaflor R. Jimeno. Jambangan has performed across the Philippines and abroad, training youth in traditional and modern styles. As the official Dance Ambassador of the Western Mindanao State University United General Alumni Association, all former members of the university's dance troupe are now part of the company—carrying forward its values and mission to protect and promote Philippine dance traditions.
